Beginning teachers – Professional Development Workshop with Gerard Alford
New teachers bring energy and enthusiasm to their classrooms. They also bring a specific set of needs. Appropriate mentoring, guidance, release time and scheduled time to plan lessons with colleagues is esstential (Smith & Ingersoll). The aim of this full day workshop is to strengthen the beginning teacher's often-challenging journey as they move to proficient teacher. Please consider enrolling any new or beginning teacher in this practical and valuable workshop.
The beginning teachers' workshop is outlined below:
Planning meaningful and explicit lessons and efficiently using the itc Thinking Skills Framework and 4 Step Model.
Designing the lesson intention. Strategies and practical tools to ensure engaging starts to all lessons.
The 4 criteria (PIME) of cooperative learning. Practical cooperative tools for brainstorming, designing, understanding, reflecting and retention.
CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING
Tools for critical thinking. Enhancing creative thinking through divergent thinking and practical creative thinking tools.
Who would benefit?
All beginning K-12, TAFE and emerging teachers.
This workshop is accredited by the New South Wales Standards Education Authority (NESA) and may be used for teacher-identified Professional Development in other states.
Cost: $220.00 (inc. GST) includes a free copy of the beginning teachers' companion Third Edition (valued at $44.95), workshop booklet and video classroom footage for in-school training.
