Meet the Authors


Gerard Alford

B.Econ. Dip. Ed. M.Ed. 
Gerard is an author and the Director of itc Publications, established in 2002.

Gerard has over 17 years' experience as a full time secondary school teacher in the UK, Queensland and Tasmania. He has held a number of senior positions including Head of Faculty, Director of Studies and Dean of Staff.

Gerard is the editor and co-author of the innovative teacher’s companion, which has sold over 750 000 copies in Australia and New Zealand and is in its 4th edition in the USA. He is also the co-author of the best-selling innovative students’ companion and the beginning teachers’ companion.

Gerard completed his Master of Education with his dissertation on productive pedagogies which incorporated lesson observations.

He is a regular presenter at education conferences both nationally and internationally. 

Gerard is passionate in promoting engaging and effective evidence-based teaching methods. 
 

 

Eric Frangenheim

Eric started teaching in 1970 in Zimbabwe and has taught in South Africa and Queensland. He has held the positions of HOD and Deputy Principal (South Africa) and Education Adviser for Gifted and Talented (G&T) in Capricornia, Queensland (1989–1992) and was Coordinator for G&T at an independent school (1993–1995).

He is the director of Rodin Educational Consultancy (www.rodineducation.com.au). Much of his work is based on his book, ‘Reflections on Classroom Thinking Strategies’, now in its 10th edition. 'Reflections' is sold in other parts of the world through Sage publications of the UK and is a recommended text in 13 universities. He is also the author of ‘The Reconciliation of Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, a publication designed to promote thinking tools in the examination of texts.

Eric is a regular presenter of workshops and lesson demonstrations in schools and at conferences throughout Australia and New Zealand and has worked with Tibetan and Indian teachers in India.
